Interrupting the flow of things

Often difficult issues are not addressed quickly and this leads to big problems. So always know when to interrupt regular meetings and activities in order to focus on the really important things... Recognise when things are broken, and know when to "interrupt the flow". If you suspect a problem, declare it and focus people of facts and solutions.

It is important not to create a reactive culture, put problems in context of existing tasks and priorities, and always ensure people clearly understand what is broken. Note too that delegation builds trust - use it. Don't underestimate your management, delegate upwards too.

Often the problems we face are not so hard, they exist mainly in people's heads. Just try asking the question "In an ideal world what would make this possible" the listen really carefully.
