Seeking closure

The worst thing for a project is when tasks are left 99% complete, or issues are almost resolved. In particular dependencies may be partially completed such that other teams can progress, but are then left incomplete.

Change managers must ensure milestones / dependencies are complete and signed off. All partial completions represent significant risk to a project and must be closed quickly so that the team is not left with uncertainty.

Pause and ask yourself why a task is not closed out? Often somebody may be worried or concerned about an issue. Look at things from their perspective.

Spend a few minutes each day looking for these situations and driving actions for closure.
