Relationships are the foundation

Some change managers are strongly driven by results. This is good, but we must not ignore the simple truth that to get great results we must start by building great relationships.

             Results
        Actions
        Possibility
        Trust
        Relationships

Relationships build trust, and trust creates the possibility for change. If we have many possibilities some will lead to actions, and some actions will lead to results.

This is a pyramid, the change manager needs a large strong base of relationships on which to build results. In the past change managers were "technicians", expert in planning and analysis. These are still necessary, but as complexity increases the best recipe for success is in building strong relationships across organisations.
